Mark Sadan

Mark Sadan began his work in art as an actor in his early twenties graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. At that same time he wrote and directed a series of one act plays at the newly opened avant garde theatre called "LAMAMA".

After acting for a year in a professional repetory company he directed several plays and then began his work as an experimental, independent film maker. He recieved two special screenings of his films in cine-probes at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. He was awarded a full fellowship for two years at the newly formed New York University Graduate Film and Television Institute.

He was one of the first film makers for Seasame Street and directed numerous award winning documentarys. It was during his work as a film producer he decided to follow his passion for photography.

Since then while continuing to produce and direct films his major work has been in the photographic medium. His work has been featured in many of the leading photo magazines such as "La Photographica" from Spain, "Zoom" from Italy, "Iris", Brazil, "Nippon" and Asahi" in Japan, "Scwarz/Weis", (Black & White) Germany, "Foto-Forum", Norway. His work is also found in many private and museum collections. Five Books have been produced using his images including "Circle of Life" (Harper Press/San Franscisco), Meditations, Tablet of Carmel and the Most Holy Tablet by Nightingale Books in U.K. and "Frente Desnudo" by Udyat Publishers in Barcelona. Recent exhibits have been presented at "The Julia Margaret Cameron" Museum on the isle of Wight, U.K., the American Dance Museum in the USA and during the summer of 2003 at the newly completed Photo-Art Museum of Norway.
