The images of the young ballerina, Marianna, were photographed when
she was 12 at National Ballet School in Riga, Latvia in 1994 while Sadan was travelling for
several months through Eastern Europe. These are but a few
of the extensive images in Black & white and color that Sadan has taken
of the dancer. She was photographed at the same dance school that Mikhael Barishnhykov and
Gudonov first studied.
Sadan also has extensive images from the same school of several classes of diverse ages and levels while they were in session during his first visit in 1989 at the invitation of the National Photographic Art Society. His exhibit from this first visit to Latvia went on to tour the Soviet Union during its final two years of glasnost. |
