These are a few of the numerous images Sadan had the opportunity to photograph of many of
Alvin Ailey's major danceworks. This happened when the Company extended an invitation to a select group
of professional dance photographers in the New York City area in conjunction with their 2000-2001 season as seen
at City Center Theatre in Manhattan.

This was during the time that, his muse and featured soloist around whom
he created many of his finest works, Judith Jamison was the the director of the company.
Thus both preserving
the continuity of his work and chroeographing new works in the tradition of 'the Master".
Judith Jamison once remarked to Sadan during an infromal conversation in the theatre "that Ailey's choreography to
Jazz was such that it was not clear if the music had been composed for the dance or the dance for the music."
Alvin Ailey was truly a master artist who created an idiom that captures the heart
and soul of a people.
